Thus May It Be

“Thus may it be.”

The Daughter says this line twice to the keres (demons) who attempt to sway Her from Her path. Though they threaten Her with the fury of “one far greater than us” (Irkalla), though they laugh at Her and say She is doomed, She responds simply “thus may it be.”

Directly after this moment in the Scriptures, the Daughter makes the journey to the darkest regions, and approaches the first of the seven gates of hell. An interesting perspective I had forgotten is found in volume 6 of ‘The Coming Age’, where each of the seven gates are guarded by Irkalla’s seven daughters, perversions of the Seven Janyati, rather than mere keres. It is through these gates the Daughter must soon walk – Kala draws near.

Verses 1:7:7-21 NCU; Mythos of the Divine Maid 4:7-21 ECE:

And the spirits spoke, saying, “Be led by us, and You shall have protection and all good things. The whole of the world shall be Your fortress, and You shall have wealth and magnificence that all the children of the earth shall love You.” But the Maid answered: “How shall you give to Me that which is Mine? For I am the princess of the world, and all the children of the earth have been given into My care by the hand of the Eternal.”

Then the spirits said: “The light of the Eternal is taken from You, and whether these things are or are not Yours, it is we who have the power over them, and we that You must obey if You will be saved.” But the Maid replied, saying, “That which is right in the deepest heart of things, and in the centre of all being, that is right and none other; and the truth alone is true. Neither shall all the powers of the earth count against it, nor all the powers of the seas and the skies move it by the smallest fraction in all its vastness. I shall obey no one but My Mother, though all your power be turned in fury upon Me.” And the spirits cried: “Not our power, but the power of one far greater from whom our power derives.” The Maid said: “Thus may it be.”

And the spirits questioned Her, saying: “Do you think that Your Mother will save You?”  The Maid answered: “She will do what She will do, and blessed is Her Name.”

And the spirits laughed, saying: “Then You are abandoned to the uttermost darkness.” The heart of the Maid fainted within Her. Yet She said: “Thus may it be.”
