A Conundrum

The second day of Tamala -- a conundrum.

If we look at the three days of Tamala as corresponding to the three days in the Christian church celebrated at this time -- All Hallows Eve, All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day -- as I wrote about yesterday, then we have a difficulty with Day 2.

We have little in our tradition on actual named saints: our faith is physically very small in numbers, so if we wish to look to saints as defined by the Christian tradition, as believers who have actually lived, passed on, and have performed miracles, then we must look only to ‘unknown saints’.

We do have those we (almost) call saints: the ECE defines the honorific “Sai” as a word related to “saint.” We use “Sai” for important spiritual beings, almost all of them Janya (angels), and many of them have days in the year on which they and the realm they hold power over are celebrated -- Sai Anthea has Florimaia, for flowers; Sai Herthe has Sai Herthe’s Day, for the hearth and home. But there is a difference between a saint and an angel! They also have their own day, the Day of All Janyati, which is marked on the first day of Nativity.

But, as mentioned before, this correspondence is only my own connection -- there is nothing official on this; it is not something you will find in the ECE or the Mother God website. Perhaps one day, we will have saints to remember on the second day of Tamala! Until then, I pray for the dead that they may have aid and continue on their journey with Our Mother with many blessings.

How do you mark the day?
