Duodecima -- Twelfth Night

In years past, before Ye Olde Plague came to visit, this was a night for parties where everyone came together to take down the decorations. Whenever you plan to take down your decorations, if you still have them up this is the last day that any images of the Star should appear. Only greenery was allowed to remain until Purple Monday (the first Monday in Brighe, on the 25 of January this year), but as I’ve said a lot in the past year – if you need to keep it for a bit of extra cheer after 2020, by all means keep your Nativity decorations around!

The day after Duodecima is either a fast or a feast: differing traditions do it different ways. For those who mark 12 Herthe (6 Jan) as Epiphany or Princess Day, this is a celebration of the showing-forth of the Daughter, as it is in Christian traditions that mark this day. For those who see the 12 Days as a sort of reflection of the months of the year, the day after Duodecima is a fast and a sombre occasion, with reflection, penitence, and quiet, as a mini-Moura.
