The Rosary

(This page is still a bit of a work in progress!)

On this page you will find the adapted prayers for the Rosary as found on the Mother God website, as well as my own personal version of praying a regular Rosary. For Scriptural Meditations on the Mysteries, as well as a Rosary for the Animals, see this page. For the Rosary for the Deceased, see this page.

The Rosary is not a requirement of anyone, in either the Catholic or Filianic faiths. It is a personal devotion that is seen as highly effective in drawing the soul nearer to God, but one you take on or stop at your own discretion. Many of the apparitions of Mary have requested the saying of the Rosary, either just more often or daily, and as such has high status in both faiths. That said, the Rosary can be difficult for many. It is recommended that if you are new to the devotion that you not take on too much at once and overwhelm yourself. Take it slow, beginning with maybe just ten Hail Marys a day and increasing over time, and leave the "extras" such as the Mysteries until a later time when you are comfortable with the basics.

To pray a Rosary, you begin with the medallion or pendant at the very end. On a Christian Rosary, this is usually a cross; many Filianic Rosaries make use of other symbols such as a star, a rose, a dove, and so on. There is a single bead above the medallion, then a group of three beads, and then a single bead (sometimes they are not clearly grouped). The rosary then splits into two to form a loop: there is generally a central medallion at the juncture. On a Christian Rosary, there is usually a picture here, of Jesus or a Saint or Mary. There are then five sets of ten beads followed by a single bead (again, not always clearly separated. Most have extra space between the ten and the one, but some do not, using different colors or sizes or textures instead to mark the end of one decade). I refer to this bead between the decades as a spacer bead throughout these instructions.

Here is a good image of what goes where on a Rosary.

When praying the Rosary, after you have begun and reached the central medallion, you simply pick a 'side' and start praying the ten beads there. There is no right or wrong direction.

For a regular Rosary:

---On the medallion, you first say the Creed. This is a long statement of faith; you may omit this, shorten it, replace it with a different prayer, or pray your own words to start. When I pray the Rosary, I often replace the Creed with the Memorare.

The Creed

I believe that I am created
from before the dawn of time
by the one eternal Dea.

I believe that Dea is One
and there are none beside Her,
And I believe that She is also Three.

I believe in the Mother,
Who is pure Light,
the Creatrix of the earth and of the heavens
and of all the illimitable cosmos.

And I believe in Her virgin Daughter,
born of the virgin Mother,
the ruler of all the energies of creation,
Whose nature is perfect Love.

And I believe in She that stands beyond these Two,
Whose Name has not been spoken on this earth:
For She is the Beginning and the End;
the First Principle and the Final Cause;
the unoriginated Origin of being.

I believe that I was made a perfect creature
and at the dawn of time my soul did turn
from the Perfection of existence
in the infirmity of her sovereign will:
And through this fault do I suffer
the limitation of imperfect being.

I believe that the Daughter of Eternity
gave Herself to be cast down into darkness and death.
I believe that She rose from death triumphant
And reigns as Queen of Heaven.

I believe that through Her death
the fault of my soul shall perish,
And I believe, through Her triumphant life,
My soul shall rise renewed in her perfection
that she may return to eternal communion
with the one eternal Dea.

Or:

Memorare

Remember, O Most Gracious Lady Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection,
implored Thy help, or sought Thine intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto Thee,
O refuge of all souls, my Mother;
to Thee do I come, before Thee I kneel, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the world and of the Heavens,
despise not my petitions, but in Thy clemency hear and answer me. Amen.

---On the bead next to the end medallion, you then say the Glory Be:

Glory Be

Glory be to the Mother
And to the Daughter
and to Absolute Deity
Who was before the beginning
& Who will be when all worlds are ended.

---Then you say the Our Mother prayer on the same bead:

Our Mother

Our Mother Who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Ranyam come, Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.

From the Mother God page: "Ranyam (realm) is the Aristasian term for a State ruled by a Queen and can be used in both the earthly and the Heavenly sense."

I do not personally use the Our Mother prayer, only saying the Glory Be prayer and moving on directly to the next bead.

---The next three grouped beads each get a Hail Mary; I say the Have Mercy prayer on these three beads:

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, fount of Grace
Lady of earth and Heaven
Blessed art Thou by all maidens
And blessed is Thy most beloved daughter.
Holy Mary, Mother and God,
Shelter us fallen ones now and at the hour of our death.

Or:

Hail Mary, fount of Grace
glory be to Thee.
Blessed are Thou, O High Queen of Heaven,
and blessed is Thy beloved Daughter.
Holy Mary, Mother and God,
Bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages.
(from here)

(I have also seen some leave off the final two lines of both versions, ending with 'beloved Daughter.')

Or:

Have Mercy

Our Lady have mercy.
Mary have mercy.
Our Lady have mercy.

---On the final bead before the Central Medallion you say any Scriptural Meditations you may be using, followed by the Our Mother (above). I say the Give Praise prayer here instead of the Our Mother.
(For beginners, these Meditations are best left until you can say the Rosary easily, where you are able to say the words and simultaneously focus on the Mystery of each decade.)

Give Praise

Give praise, ye servants of the Eternal,
praise Her majestic Name.
Let the Name of our Lady be blessed,
from this time forth, forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to its going down
let the Name of our Lady be praised.
The Eternal One is high above all nations,
and Her glory above the Heavens.

---Now you jump over the central medallion and 'pick a side' as it were, praying a Hail Mary on each of the ten beads. On the chain itself after the tenth Hail Mary, before the spacer bead that sits on its own, you pray the Glory Be and the Daughter prayer:

The Daughter Prayer

Oh my Lady, forgive us our sins,
rescue us from the ungentle winds of werdë,
and lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those most in need of Thy mercy.

(You may also simply use the word 'fate' instead of 'werdë')

---On the spacer bead after each decade you say an Our Mother prayer; if praying the Mysteries, you say the next Mystery and any Scriptural Meditations here. Since I do not use the Our Mother prayer, I will either pray the Glory Be on the chain, and the Daughter Prayer on the spacer bead, or both prayers on the spacer bead.

Then you repeat the process until you have finished the loop, and come back to the central medallion. After the Glory Be and Daughter prayers on the chain, you go to the medallion itself and pray Hail Holy Queen.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy!
Our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To Thee do we cry, poor banished daughters of the earth;
To Thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Saviour,
Thine eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this, our exile lead us into
the sacred Garden of Thy Love.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Lady.
Shelter and guide us, O Holy Daughter of Dea*,
That we may be made worthy of Thy salvation.

*Thea may also be used, or the name favoured by your denomination.

And your rosary is complete!

Scriptural Meditations for the Five Mysteries

I'll have more on these soon, but for now you can check out this page on the Mother God website for the Mysteries.

Nativity Meditations for the Rosary  (transcript)

Additional Meditations

On Saturdays/Rhavëdi, I pray for the dead. I believe all departed souls should be prayed for, particularly those who have died in less than peaceful conditions, and that includes our sister souls: those of the animals.

In a regular Rosary, each decade is dedicated to a particular Mystery. In a Rosary for the animals, I pray each decade for a different area:

  • First Decade: all animals in factory farms
for the sows in their gestation crates, for the chickens unable to bear their own weight, for the cows who've just had their babies stolen away, for the babies crying for their mothers, for the chicks on the conveyor to a grisly end, the geese tortured for foie gras, we pray
  • Second Decade: all fish and sea creatures
for the fish caught in the nets, for the crabs in their cages, for the dolphins and turtles and myriad others killed by abandoned fishing gear or caught by accident, for the farmed fish in their stock tanks, for the sharks and whales and the health of the seas, we pray
  • Third Decade: those in captivity
for the animals on display in zoos, aquariums, circuses, and fairs, for sun bears & moon bears trapped in cages for their bile, for those in hoarding situations or places of neglect, for those who die after being forced to breed in a misguided attempt to preserve species, we pray
  • Fourth Decade: those in testing facilities
for those in labs for animal studies, for those in cosmetic testing, for those denied health and rest and socializing with their own kind in the name of safety for humans, we pray
  • Fifth Decade: all animals about to die
for the animals on the slaughterhouse floor, for the sea creatures brought on deck, for those tossed aside after birth, for those dying of their own weight or from the intolerable living conditions forced upon them, for those who do not live past the heroic jump for freedom off the trucks taking them to slaughter, for those suffering illness and injury without aid, for those about to pass on, we pray. I particularly pray that they may be granted rescue if at all possible, for mercy, for everyone working in these horrific places to have a change of heart and say 'no more' -- for the industry of exploitation and pain to end, even one day sooner.
On the spacer bead before each decade, I announce (either out loud or mentally) the focus of the next ten beads. As I pray the Hail Mary on each bead, I consider different animals in those situations, and mentally ask our Mother to send Her aid to them; for those who have already or are about to pass on, I ask that She come to them with love and peace and bring them over as painlessly as possible. I pray this particular Rosary with the same prayers as that of the Rosary for the Dead, so I pray for their peace and blessed afterlife after each decade and in the words of St Ignatius of Antioch before the Hail Holy Queen.
