Autumn
One week to Cuivanya!
Autumn creeps in -- there are signs, though you have to look for them when you live in a desert! The light is different. You can tell something is 'off' in the way the light hits the mountains; the light in the late afternoon sky is different though hard to describe. The evening comes on just that little bit earlier. We've continued the rainy weather that is so out of the ordinary for us -- even had hail a few nights ago!
Though we in the modern day mark the Equinoxes & Solstices as the 'first' day of a season, in reality those are the midpoints of each season. We're well on our way to winter, though we hardly know it yet!
What do you plan on doing for Cuivanya? I'm thinking of redecorating my shrine for autumn, giving a little offering (oat milk and spice cookies maybe?), lighting some candles, and wearing something 'witchy' to help remind me of the day, since it'll be a regular work day for me. One step closer to Tamala! 🎃👻🍁
The Autumn Equinox this year lands on September 22; we celebrate the festival of Cuivanya the day before on September 21/Abolan 17. A 'harvest' festival, Cuivanya celebrates the fullness of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
