Hestiad: Day of Sai Herthe

The Janya (angel) of the home and hearth-fire, Sai Herthe's festival celebrates homes and "the true Centre and our true Home in our Lady."

 

We are now on the seventh day of our Nativity celebrations; the Day of Sai Herthe is a most appropriate day for the Yule Log to burn. Homes may also be blessed on this day, with the prayer:

‘Mother Herthe [Hestia], bless my home that it may become a place of peace and a resting place of the Spirit; a place of understanding where Truth abides; and a place of love, which will awaken every heart to the love of the Mother of All.’

 

You may also take a stick of incense or a small candle (carefully!) around your house, drawing the sign of the Fora in midair with it (the Fora looks like a plus sign; making the downward stroke first, then the horizontal bar, this may then be 'enclosed' with a circle) or the Pentacle at each corner of each room and at windows.
