Feast of Conception
The Feast of Conception – “The Holy Child shall be Princess of all the World.”
We are now into the second week of Advent. A significant turning point of the year, this is the last festival of the Mother half before Nativity begins the Daughter half of the year. Yet, unlike other festivals in the Mother half of the year, this festival brings God as both Mother & Daughter into the celebration. Mother festivals are primarily concerned with Our Mother’s relationship with us directly (Rosa Mundi, Cuivanya), but we see this day as equally shared by both Mother and Daughter, a festival about Them; a joyous proclamation of what is to come.
This festival is a direct copy of the Marian holiday in the Catholic Church: the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Today was chosen because it is exactly 9 months before the Catholic date of Mary's birth, September 8.
