The Seed of One Apple

A verse from the Sermon of the Apple-Seed (4:15 ECE 4th ed/5:15 NCU).

I really like this chapter of the Scriptures. Likening the Truth to a great Tree standing through the innumerable ages of time, and all the knowledge of our world to a tiny apple hanging off that tree - the image is something wonderful to reflect on. The apple seed referred to in this verse actually represents the Scriptures themselves. The full section this verse comes from reads:

"Like to the spreading boughs is the Love that sustains all creation which is fallen from pure Spirit. Like to the bole is that Spirit Herself, from Whom all creation flows. And still beneath the branches and the bole lie the roots in darkness, like unto She that is beyond both being and unbeing; and even as the tree’s roots are not seen, so can there be no knowledge of the Absolute; for to know is to have passed beyond knowledge. And from this tree of all knowledge and of the boundaries beyond which knowledge cannot pass, I have given to you but the seed of one apple."

Back when I first began my project to make images for every month and festival of the Filianic year, my primary goal was to post Scripture quotes. I had a rough aim of posting at least one verse from every Chapter of the Scriptures - something that has not yet been achieved! It's been about four years since I made one of these?? It's high time to get back into it....
